Tin Lid (Kids)

The tin can kids “TLC” tender loving care where is it right now? Alas I cannot begin to wonder without a ting of anguish and regret. For it was the friendship and fellowship of these street wise scallywags that took form over the years and just kept on growing to such a degree that they have inspired me never ever to feel miserable about what I might perceive as dark times of my own. The sad thing is that for the time being these kids have lost a drop in centre, The new owner Khmer Tom do not look upon these kids kindly, they look upon them as pests to be chased by dogs or people with a big stick, truly it’s not a pretty sight.

So good traveling people if you’re at Little garden or anywhere around Kampot town and you see these happy scruffy dirty not always smelly kids carrying a rice sacks over their shoulder take the time and spend it with them, invite them in for a meal and a drink take them to a noodle or tukaluc stall take them out for the day believe me it’s a whole new experience they love to swim love to sing and dance love doing what kids do, you won’t regret it honest it will be a highlight of you trip.

I feel very bad about this current situation at the moment and will not settle until I can reestablish a drop in place in Kampot again. Negotiations are in place at time of writing for a shop house in town but alas I am much underfunded to undertake and establish this alone. Please anyone out there I am seeking funds a full proposal and business plan is in the making but a rough figure at this time of 10K for start up and first year running costs would be a good ball park figure.

This time I would like to be able to put more emphasis on English language classes and hospitality training, for the boys and girls and also find a way to subsidize them for their ebji collection plastic bottles and tin cans around a dollar a day, should not be to difficult with enough sponsors.

Please give this some considerations and don’t forget to look out for these kids when your strolling around Kampot on a lovely sunset evening enjoy.
