KAMPOT POST APRIL 2006

I have already experienced changes in Kampot as the word of its laid back charm starts to gather momentum such as in the number of expats coming to live here for reasons of their own as against the number of expats living here working for NGOs. Last count someone did was about 52 expats in residence or who own property here.
Rumor has it a mini property boom is about to happen. A mini infrastructure boom first would be much more beneficial on would think...

An update for you on the changes occuring on the riverfront and elsewhere around town:
Blissful Guesthouse still best value for people on the backpack budget trail. On the river front from LGB traveling south Phnom Kamchay Thmey, Say Sabok or is it Sok Suby ?? Bamboo Light, the very soon to open Kampot Riverfront Lodge, (don't quote me just yet on the name). A warm welcome to Kampot for Eric and his team. A couple of doors down from him rumor has it Bonkers cafe has a starting date, couple more down and you have Kristian's missionaries not welcome ever popular Rusty Keyhole. Then a few more steps south and the yet to open but should be a good one when it does Rikitikitavi (ask Dom about that one). Last but not least the Boddhi Villa lodge and chill out lounge. This one is a lovely adition for the things to do section of Lonely Planet in Kampot but you won't find this little gem in there. Nice on Hugh, Joss. Water skiing and Volcano specialists. On the Touk Chou road. Oh and nearby forgot another gem back on the east side of the rive that you won't see in the guide books just yet only word of mouth is the Mango Tree you will have to listen out for that one.

So there you have it, Kampot come for a while linger longer?

See you on the riverside.
